      <image:caption>In April 2022, Karen Pickering, publisher and owner of The Northwest Horse Source, an established community, and of the new The Colorado Horse Source brand approached me about collaborating to support the Colorado horse community. It’s a grassroots effort, but an important one to ensure a vibrant and enduring horse culture in Colorado. Having grown up with horses in the Centennial State and raising my family on our horse property just outside Denver, I found this to be a valuable addition to my portfolio, but also a vital way to give back to the community that helped me get where I am today professionally and in my horse life.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>In 2019, the reining industry faced the opportunity of a lifetime. Paramount Network and Brumley Events collaborated to produce a TV show called The Last Cowboy, which featured top NRHA Professionals preparing to compete at the first-of-its-kind Run for a Million event. While NRHA didn’t own the event, my team knew we had to capitalize on it. We developed an SEO program using a specially focused landing page that’s been updated for the 2021 event and TV show, a Google ad campaign, and Facebook and Instagram ads to drive people who searched for various key terms tied to the show, its personalities, and the event to NRHA.com. Here, they could learn more about the sport, the stars of the show, and what goes into caring for reining horses. They also could join a fan email list and become members of NRHA. The program boosted web traffic 30% in the first week alone. It gained steam throughout the 6-week run and garnered 200+ names for the email list. Those who signed up received special content to educate them about reining and had a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2019 NRHA Futurity.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Podcasts are the hot ticket for promotion, especially when you want to expose a new audience to your mission. I developed the In Our Tracks podcast with a mission to honor the reining’s and NRHA’s history while celebrating its present and looking forward to its future. This allowed us to cater to both current members and non-members who are interested in reining. Guests varied from youth members to hall-of-famers and touched on current hot topics, training advice, and insights into what makes reining special. I developed the podcast, did background for each interview, hosted the podcast, and sent it out for editing. (The expert editor makes each episode sound perfect!) I then provided requested marketing materials to provide limited promotion of the podcast. As of my final episode in June 2021, the podcast had about 800 monthly downloads.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Diversification is critical to a brand’s survival, especially in media. With the desire for on-demand video content among horse owners, especially educational video, we identified an opportunity to offer subscribers video content that aligned with that found in the printed magazine and on its digital properties—Horse&amp;Rider OnDemand. After painstaking research to uncover the exact mix of information to offer, we handpicked two trusted contributors—who also happen to be great on camera—to be our resources. I left H&amp;R just after the multi-platform program launched, but it has grown to exceed initial expectations, especially when riders were sheltering at home and were hungry for training tips for their horses. Additionally, it’s now the model for the Equine Network’s other on-demand platforms, including Roping.com and BreakawayRoping.com.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The success of the Pro Trainer publication led the National Reining Horse Association to outsource its membership publication, the NRHA Reiner, to Active Interest Media/the Equine Network. Once again collaborating with an outside creative and the in-house art director, we completely revamped the publication to make it more modern, more reader-friendly, and more representative of the entire membership rather than just the elites of the sport. It also more effectively served the association’s corporate partner needs. When I started my own business, I stayed on as editorial consultant for the magazine, which allowed many other associated projects to land on my plate: revamping the monthly NRHA Reiner newsletter, which saw an increased click-through rate; overseeing the development of a website for the content found in the Reiner, which formerly was only found in the digital edition of the magazine without any SEO capabilities; creating a blog to highlight members and share information during COVID-19; and putting together initiatives for the sales team to offer multi-platform advertising packages under the NRHA and Reiner brands.</image:caption>

We developed a multifaceted program, including a print product, seminars, online education, and other resources. NRHA ultimately landed on hiring us to produce a first-of-its-kind quarterly special publication for their professionals to help them be better business people and to more effectively market their services. In its five years, the NRHA Pro Trainer magazine has become a valued asset to professionals at all phases of their careers and continues to help them find success. I often hear from professionals outside the sport of reining how much they value the information presented for their own businesses. I continue to independently publish the NRHA Pro Trainer. The magazine went 100% digital last year as pros’ reliance on digital media has grown. This also allows an archive of past issues to be at their fingertips, here, along with a three-part digital marketing kit I developed for the pros.</image:caption>

      <image:title>My Work - Horse&amp;Rider Rebrand - Repositioning and Rebranding of Horse&amp;Rider</image:title>
      <image:caption>In 2017, I encountered the unique opportunity to reposition and rebrand Horse&amp;Rider and its many facets—from its monthly print presence to all of its online offerings. In doing so, we were faced with the challenge of incorporating the audiences of two other brands—American Cowboy and The Trail Rider—in the new direction. Having worked on H&amp;R since 2010 and growing up reading the magazine, I was intimately familiar with that audience and its wants and needs; extensive research aided in getting to know the other two audiences. Alongside the H&amp;R art director, we collaborated with an outside creative to completely redevelop all aspects of the brand including the logotype, content mix, color palette, fonts, department treatments, cover style, and more. In all, I spent almost 10 years with Active Interest Media, now the Equine Network. During that time, leadership gave me immeasurable opportunity to no only write and shoot photos, but help shape the future of the equine media world. It allowed me to combine my passion for horses, writing, and photography with my diverse background, including my years with The Integer Group where I learned to embrace being unique and thinking differently than everyone else. In a world full of followers, this is an essential skill to stand out from the crowd and be noticed. Equally as valuable is my naturally introverted nature, which allows me to know when subtlety is a better choice for a situation or task. My contributions to Horse&amp;Rider and to new business teams, including working with Catapult Creative Labs, eventually elevated me to be named the first-ever Western Content Director for the Equine Network—a goal I established when I first started at AIM as a managing editor. I’m forever grateful to my teammates at AIM and the leadership for giving me opportunities that helped get me where I am today.</image:caption>
